US Mower Featured Products

US Mower was founded in 1996 by professional brush mowers who were not satisfied with the equipment available at the time. They formed Numac for the purpose of producing better mowers. From their experience of brush mowing they knew what aspects of the boom mowers of the day needed to be improved: rotary spindle and bearing sizes were increased, booms were made from T-1 steel rather than square extrusions, hydraulic control systems were improved, hydraulic systems were made to run cooler with larger hose. These modest changes improved the mowers but more than that they established point of view for the future.

That was 12 years ago and the improvements have continued. Today ground clearance has improved so that a USM midmount boom mower does not reduce tractor ground clearance at all. Operator visibility has improved to the point where both front wheels are visible to the operator. Cooling for the hydraulic system is no longer passive convection but increased to 40,000 BTU with the addition of a fan blown oil cooler. The midmount mower has a double pump making the mower independent of the tractor hydraulic system. The pump drive is a pair of non-splined Lovejoy couplers; zero failures in over 5 years. The right front axle has a small cylinder that counters a portion of the extended boom load; this assists in leveling the tractor with boom extension. Mower counter weight is entirely in the left rear wheel. This lowers the center of gravity and improves lateral tractor roll on rough terrain. Many of these features are shown in the photo collage in the boom mower section.

And more. There are other improvements that are not particularly noticeable. Polyester powder coat rather than paint for instance. The main one of these unnoticeables, is the change to DOMEX for boom steel. DOMEX yields at 100,000 psi like T-1 but has much greater ductility making boom cracks from overload rare. When they do occur the crack is only in the welds rather than in the DOMEX steel.

Along the way, USM has developed attachment mowers for excavators, backhoes and skid steers. The Samurai flail mowers are available in 4 sizes suitable for excavators from 3500 lbs to 60,000 lbs. For skid steers, USM offers both a rotary brush mower and a flail brush mower. At the request of our customers, a fixed tooth high torque carbide blade type mower is in the works.

Whether your vegetation management needs are best met with a tractor mounted mower or a smaller unit that attaches to an excavator, backhoe or skid steer; US Mower products are designed to be the best of their type available. They are designed to conservative engineering standards, most are stress modeled with FEA (Finite Element Analysis) and all are made from high strength steels.
